BLINDED
In A Global Shutdown, Looks Don't Mean a Thing.
BLINDED is an app that goes beyond looks, in a market where looking good gets you more swipes/dates/hook-ups.

DIG DEEPER: PLAYING CUPID W/ BLINDED
BLINDED plays "cupid" and "psychologist" for users who are looking to establish intentional romantic and platonic connections.
Mental Health & Dating Apps
Dating apps contribute to the Human Disposability phenomenon. Negative experiences can lead users to question their physical appearance, conversational skills, and the general reliability of the opposite sex. This leads to lower self-esteem and lowers psychosocial well-being for those who use dating apps.
The Solution
BLINDED uses psychology-based research on relationship building, to foster deeper conversations through curated blind dates, algorithm-tailored connections, and a guided dating experience engineered by relationship experts.
The Impact
“[BLINDED] helps facilitate the process of dating someone new" - Blinded Beta User

Current dating apps take a backseat approach and leave users hanging in the dating process (especially the ones who wear their hearts on their sleeves), while BLINDED provides tailored resources to build up and connect users beyond the app.
The Research
Getting to Know the Market: Before playing cupid, my co-founder and I sought out to understand the current state of dating.

What We Learned: Dating sucks, but it sucks even more when everyone is forced to stay home.

How We Used It: The in-app user experience was designed to help users forget how they were dating (aka using an app) and focus on whom they were dating (their in-app blind date).
Why don't you like dating apps?
"Profiles are curated by the user and I can be attracted to their online/app presence but not their physical presence. In other words, I prefer to go off of physical vibes."
Why don't you like dating apps?
"They encourage superficial interactions. There is not a lot of substance to conversations within the app, nor the desire to from other app users. I think they encourage more transactional or temporary relationships with people always looking for the "next best thing."
Why Do you like dating apps?
"I get to meet a lot of people you probably would never meet in real life."
